How do I engage disaffected students at KS4?
How to teach the subjective?
How do I teach the perfect tense to low set Y9?
How do I teach underachieving Y9s?
How do I teach revision of translation to Y13?
How do I get more kids putting their hands up in class?
How do I make lessons useful for Y9s not continuing with MFL?
Yr 9 no more MFL. Ask them to plan and create resources - IT or paper - for Yrs 7 & 8. They love it, all engaged, and they use all the lang you have taught!
Have thinking time, 10 seconds say. No hands till time up. Time to think about answer, more confidence. Not just quickest/most confident who put hands up.
Re-Yr13s and culture. Hunt for resources and plan the topic around all the materials you have gathered. If film/novel/play focus on story, characters and themes.
Don't think that the subjunctive is HARD. Tell them it is easy (backwards endings in Spanish). Works a treat.
Tailor choice of topics to ability - no hard lit for weaker cands but do book with lots of material available for high flyers. Films go down well.
Projects, world cup, MYLO, films, improve their English literacy thru MFL. Our kids like teacher assessed Asset tests!!!Even Set 4! Teach them holiday Spanish.
I am trying to move kids who have opted into 2 classes so that we can work better with them now in May June July
